So I placed an order on sunday for a few bits and pieces, couple of cheap behringer pedals to mess around with, a powerplant for my board, patch cables, velcro etc.

One of the behringer pedals was out of stock, but it had the 'expected in the next 2-5 days' blah blah blah.

In the meantime, the other pedal went out of stock and now I won't get my order shipped until the 1st of february! which means I won't have it for another 2 weeks!

Even Xmusic of all the places, when I placed an online order with them for a few cables, gig bags and other bits, when the bag and a cable were out of stock, they posted the rest of the order first and THEN posted the out of stock stuff.

Whereas thomann expect me to wait another 2 weeks for my stuff which I expected to have by next week, never mind the week after or longer

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I ordered stuff before Christmas, and even though everything was in stock, one package left the day before the other. I got one on the 23rd (Which was nearly 9 days after I ordered), and the other one came in on the 30th. The first one was my bass amp, which was nice and shiny sitting there for a week with no bass to play it on. I'm 32, and I was about to have a tantrum like a child :pac:

    Feel your pain!

that happened to me as well & they tried to charge me shipping again for it !

I spent the past couple of days making my home-made board, painting it and everything in anticipation :(

Its annoying when the stock isn't allocated to your order and gets snapped up by someone else. If you really need something ASAP, or if you know they're waiting on stock, leave a comment when you place the order or drop the cust. service an email and get them to send out what they have, they gladly do it. It'll usually cost you twice in shipping, but if you really need it...

Interesting you should have a gripe with Thomann at the moment, as I have one too (or had one). Same thing happened to me with a Black Star Distortion pedal. Not in stock 5/days. But it went on for virtually three weeks and still no joy (no informaiton or anything at all). So I canceled it and bought the same pedal in town - for a lot cheaper too!

I got a mail confirming my cancellation... No apology I should add. I wouldn't might but I've spent a lot of cash with those guys recently. :( Plus, I've noticed a bit of a "price creep" with Them too. So now I always shop around and will never order anything "not in stock" again. :)

Seems the tide of opinion is turning for Thomann. Based on all the previous positive opinions here, I recently bought a bass cab from them. It was my first time using them. Had absolutely no problems. Maybe I was just one of the lucky ones ?

Have any of you lads tried www.dolphinmusic.co.uk ?

I have used them previously and their customer service is second to none in my experience. I would have used them this time only they did not stock what I was looking for.

Ordered some gear after xmas and got it all on time. Holdups/mistakes are bound to happen once in a while.

I find Thomann fairly expensive for some gear now. Digital Village seems to be a lot cheaper for a lot of things even taking shipping into account.

i found thomann way way more expensive nowadays, i know stuff was genereally a lot cheaper there when the whole ordering from germany thing took off, but its almost a par if not more expensive than other online places now

I normally fork out the extra couple of quid and buy local, especially for pedals and small stuff, but the Harley Benton PowerPlants are only 40 quid, compared to the cheapest one's over here which are 120 quid. that and I got 5 metres of velcro for 30 quid rather than 2 for 20 in most hardware stores.

At the moment it's not even letting me view my order, so for all I know something else might have gone out of stock for a longer period

I ordered a peavey windsor studio with digital village before, absolutely SHOCKING. the amp turned out to be "damaged in transit". this was after 2 weeks of waiting, and I had to send multiple emails and calls to find out it was damaged? and THEN, they wanted me to pay extra for another model, about 60 quid extra. and THEN I was cut a tenner off my refund for 'bank charges'.

Honestly, I've had good experiences before with Thomann and Musicstore, but from now on, I'm getting EVERYTHING local. I don't care about prices or customer service, for once I'll have the peace of mind that I'll have the stuff in my hands as soon as I buy.

I have used GAK a few times and found them to be quite easy to deal with. Thomann are becoming yesterdays thing

Ordered an acoustic guitar off them.. Arrived damaged, spent the guts of 3 months trying to get my money back. Still down €15 for outbound postage.
Customer service is shockingly bad with thomann. That said though, it's the first problem I've had with them.

I think thomann were and probably still are the benchmark for price online. As for service, had a similar hiccup with thomann when I ordered a nord stage, case and a few other bits. Within hrs of ordering it teh keyboard went out of stock, thought I had got in in time but had to wait a month for it. To be fair they did ship the other items in the meantime. Dolphin music are good ordered a few things off them and delivery is quick.
