There is plenty of info on the topic here, just do a search. However, in my opinion I would suggest a psychotherapist or psychologist. It is my opinion that the training of hypnotherapists in Ireland is too short to consider them therapists, if that is the only "psychotherapy" training they have. Personally I would recomend psychoanalysis, others would sugggest CBT. The main thing is make sure they are qualified and I would suggest that they be trained to at least Masters level.

It can be for some I guess. It didn't work great for me. Have you heard of EFT? You can do it yourself and even though I'm skeptical I can't say that it hasn't worked for me!

In my experience yes, but then i'm only one person and you'll probably get plenty of people telling their story of how it didn't work. I guess you just have to talk to as many hypnotists as you can(as I did) and then decide if you like what they are saying and if you think it can help you. If I would share any advice, make sure they don't just put you into hypnosis and have you listen to suggestions. I was talking during sessions while in hypnosis. I think that's what really helped me.

Short answer is yes it can help because (assuming competence) it would involve teaching relaxation. Depending on the nature of the anxiety learning some variation of applied relaxation can be as effective as a cognitive therapy protocol. Also in hypnotherapy one might expect some cognitive (and possibly metacognitve) work related to acceptance of anxiety and altering how one stands in relation to it.

But if your anxiety is so bad that you wish to get professional help then I would definitely be hitting a psychologist or a good CBT psychotherapist first. There are effective treatments available for anxiety disorders, mostly CBT.

Yes, for what you are talking about in your post. I found it to be beneficial anyway.

No probs, I open to talking about the whole process. We could continue here but it would be better if you started a thread about becoming a psychoanalyst. Just fire your questions out and if I and answer them I will.

But it will be tomorrow I'm off to bed now.
