    Hi All,

I am looking for a combo box that will take the standard definition signal from DTT and Satellite and upscale it to 1080p quality.

I think this will do the job:

    http://www.sateuropa.co.uk/product_overview.asp?prod=Atevio-AV-7500-HD-PVR-Ready---Satellite-+-Terrestrial&id=2632&catid=1&subcat=56

Anyone know of a cheaper one?

Jeez - dont pay that much!

Opticum HD TS 9600 Prima (the prima part is important for the 1080p new version - the previous version doesnt have this output only 1080 i)

    Product Spec

Ebay.de Germany/German websites about €190.... remember Prima is important.

No doubt we will have some 1080i vs 1080p argument with heavy use of the word deinterlacing.

That's very expensive for only single tuners of Sat + DTT and only PVR ready, no HDD. Also no MHEG5.
    Not good idea.

Any HD setbox that upscales SD 576i probably outputs in 1080p anyway. You need an HD Setbox anyway.

Any decent HDTV converts 1080i to 1080p internally better than most set boxes.
Media centre PC needs to be 1080p50 as it normally won't switch between 576i and 1080i between SD and HD channels, so it has to de-interlace the 576i25fps 50Hz to 576p and then upscale to 1080p.

There is no difference in resolution for 1080p or 1080i ;)

The whole 1080p is a USA issue due to their cinema 3:2 pull down artifacts on 30fps/60Hz.
