well lads looking for your opinions on the new beretta xplor a 400 semi auto. im sick of hauling around the 686 so i want to have a nice semi auto light game gun. and i really like the look and features of this new a400.i think its the "big brother" of the unico so if anyone has one of these your views on it would be appriciated. thanks

got one a few weeks ago. it is the best gun i have ever bought.
dont know what ya mean about 'big brother', there is only the a400 xplor unico and the a400 xplor light.
i got the xplor unico one, it can handle every 12g cartridge there is.
light enough to carry all day and low recoil with kick off pad.

ya sorry it was the light version i was on about. i will keep the 686 for clays its just too heavy and too good to be pulling through ditchs. if you dont mind me asking what kind of money did the unico cost . i got a qoute of 1700 for the light is that good or bad

i know what ya mean about the 686 i have one myself.
the dealer i bought my gun off won it and sold it to me for €1500. He can get them in at €2100 so i got a good deal.
€1700 for the light is a fair price. the light only has a 3in chamber while the unico has 3.5in chamber.
if you dont need the 3.5in chamber then go for the light you wont regret it.
Does the light you were looking at have the kick off?

i'm also looking to buy a xplor and don't know whether to have a light or unico.
whats the advantage of the 3.5 chamber? (sorry for not knowing but just shooting this year)

The 3.5in chamber is for firing supermagnum cartridges. Come in handy for ducks at range and geese and the odd fox.
You wont be firing to many through it as it is light gun but the kick off does a good job.

i think the 3" chamber would be fine for me.
my shotgun at the minute is a 3" and i've got enough with it.
so it's a xplor light with kick-off for me :D
now if a dealer would ever call me back with a price it would help

some dealers are so unreliable. best of luck with whichever one you choose you wont be dissapointed.

yes it does have the kick off alright he said it would be 1600 without it.

it would be worth paying the extra €100 for it. a few of my friends think that there is more muzzel jump with the pad, but it doesnt seem to bother me.;)
