Question about custom and excise

In the future I will be sending an expensive collector's doll to the US for modification

When it is sent back to Ireland I want it to be insured for it's entire value.

Is there any way I can have it sent to me, fully insured, without incurring customs fees?

I wouldn't want to pay customs fees on it, seeing as the doll already belongs to me. Are there any forms that can be sent to the US with the doll that can then be sent back with the doll to show the customs officers that the doll has already been in Ireland?
