Bought tickets on my credit card from irishrail. I can't go on the trip and am wondering if my friends will be able to collect tickets with just the auth codes emailed to me?

They'll be able to print the tickets with the reservation number from an automatic ticket machine.

That hasn't been a requirement for quite some time - it was changed around last summer I think. It'll work fine nowadays, all you have to do is go up to any ticket machine and select "collect pre-booked tickets" and key in the reservation number. They'll print straight out.
This would have worked fine in the past too - under the old system you could simply walk up to the booking office and most will ask for the number, some your name but I can't recall ever being asked for I.D. or anyone else either.

So in summary - tell them to go up to the machine and select "collect pre-booked tickets", give them the number and there you go! :)

It there are any problems, e.g. the ticket machine is off-line, they may need to go to the booking office. The tickets will need to be in their names and they may be asked for photo ID.

You can of course collect the tickets early.

I've been asked for some form of ID once or twice, they were happy with my ATM card.

But if you or your friends are in Dublin, they can collect them from any station, barring a system wide error or the like.
