    Could someone pls tell me what social welfare pretax is.

    it was on my pay check.(i was sick for a few Months)
    i handed my lst blue back to wrk sick form 2 wks ago.

    Why am i being charged so much now for it. tnx

    Your work sound like they have deducted sickness/illness benefit from your gross pay, (Illness benefit is not taxed for the first six weeks)

    A lot of employers pay sick leave but then deduct any social welfare you get from your pay.

    You might need to send off for illness benefit to make up the shortfall.
    Check with your payroll team to confirm.

    ya my employers (Semistate Company) were doing that paying me & taking the welfare off on my pay check. i was getting the rest of Social Welfare then.i thought i would be back to normal now. Must ask them Tmw. it was never that high though??

    You really need to ask them tbh, they are the only people who can go through it with you.
