With so many people working from home or needing constant internet access for one reason or another do you think the likes of NTL, Eircom etc. should have to give advance warning - via email or pre-recorded telephone calls?

It can be very frustrating having to ring up and stay on hold for 20 minutes to be told that there's maintenance on in the area and tough luck.

If you've no internet why would they send you an e-mail?

Even if they somehow put the advance warning on redtube I'd still be too busy **** to look at it.

Vodafone used to have something like that on their Customer Service line. They announced the areas that actually had broadband service, eg: "Today broadband is working in Cork, Waterford, D1, D2 and D8. Will all other broadband users please reset your router, it's definitely a router problem"...then the line would go dead.

That'd work. But not to warn me about the outage.

Didn't they replace it with "If you can read this, you can't be one of our customers, because our broadband is sh1t"?
