Hi i have a new custom made e- commerce website and i need software to create customer invoices so i can let them know when the product was shipped, order NO, tracking NO etc.

What programs would people recommend here?

Sage is biggest off-the-shelf accounting software provider so they can offer you the most flexible solutions - if they can't do it then they have hundreds of companies that develop for their software that can.

I always recommend that people run their businesses from the accounting software outwards. Makes for less duplication of task, ie only one database of customers names and addresses for all business functions.

Do customers actually look for invoices?

I understand the need for Tracking etc. but if your doing next day delivery all the custmer wants is to receive the goods pronto.

Is the Paypal notification not enough?

Try something like Freshbooks - www.freshbooks.com

They are an SAAS plus more importantly have an API that you can implement into your online store. Long-term could make it alot quicker and easier to generate invoices via the API as each sale is make

"Do customers actually look for invoices?"

YES - if your looking to claim the goods as an expense against your business!

Yeah I totally understand the need for B2B invoicing, but for the average joe out there buying a t-shirt, is it really necessary.

No. if theres a problem, you need all the details of the transaction IMO.

    Hi,

Can your webiste not issue invoices as part of it software.
When I receive an order, the website has a facility to print an invoice.

I have also the facility that when I ship the goods and complete the details, tracking number if by courier or Registered Post tracking, the customer receives an Email with the details.

My website is not a great website but it does provide me with both facilities.

I then key the details into my Tas 3 accounting system

The benefit about issuing an invoice to your customer is you might get a referral or repeat business from it if they like your product.

I agree with aidan.connolly; the online store should really be able to provide an invoice that the customer can print off.

CRM to ERP integration is a handy way to get around this. Although you often have different databases, the information is synchronised so you can use the application that's tailored for the activity you want to carry out.

It has an ordering report which the customer gets in a mail(auto order).

I bought a netbook from Elara the other day, their online invoicing was very good, email with pdf. Also in the box was a delivering docket.

I need to create and invoice as things such as an AN post tracking order cant be auto generated.

As someone mentioned you need to issue invoices as vat numbers, order numbers are used in certain circumstances.

Most accountancy software can do this however the other office is always used so i would like to keep web orders separate and do it myself as it is the easiest way.

    Hi

My website has OS Commerce as the E Commerce part of the site. It has the invoicing facility, and the ability to advise the customer of various stages of the order e.g pending, processing, Despatched, Delivered. I even have one for no payment received and order cancelled.

As I siad in my earlier post it has a facility to print an invoice. I print it on to integrated page that has a label that I can peel off and attach to the parcel for posting. The rest of it I put in the Jiffy bag with the goods.

I print a second copy on ordinary paper for my records.
