Lads, looking at buying one of the new Fiesta's does anyone recommend?

Apologies for such a basic question, I have looked at the numerous sites for rating cars (top gear etc....)

I'm looking at getting a diesel version.

What are the pros and cons? anyone have a new fiesta?

    Cheers in advance

What are the pros and cons?

    Pro: Good chassis, handles well.

Con: Diesel is slow, 15 secs to 100 km/hr. Interior isn't top quality like a new Polo, although the Fiesta costs as much.

I'd be tempted by the Clio: 20 more horsepower, 4 seconds faster to 100, €1000 change on the asking price, and dealers in the mood to bargain.

    no 1.6 petrol

I would rate the Clio 1.5dci way above the Fiesta 1.4TDci, and any of the Fiesta petrols over the diesel too.

Did you look at Hyuindai I20? Seems to be well rated - plus has long warranty.

I'm planning to scrap a worn out '98 Lancer, and have an eye on the Fiesta.

I've read from other posts that the Fiesta Style 1.25L is available with an 82hp engine, as well as the basic 60hp model. However the Ford website price-list only shows the Style available with the 60hp version: http://www.ford.ie/Cars/Fiesta/PriceLists

Interestingly it lists a "Colourline" model with the 82hp engine (at €17,075 for the 5 door), however the current Fiesta brochure has no details of the spec of this model.

Does anyone know anything about the Fiesta Colourline?

Also, would there be a noticeable performance difference/driving experience between the 60hp and 82hp engines?

Based on the Colourline prices it seems Ford charge €635 more for the 82hp over the 60hp.

theres less models available here than in the UK. Quite an eyeopener to go to a UK Ford dealer! From memory there was the Style, the Style+ titanium and another model...five in all i think over there as opposed to three (now 2) here. Also spec here is lower....zetec S in Uk for instance has push button start as standard (so far as that matters)

I hired a fiesta 1.2 over Christmas. couldnt tell you what bhp it was. but was a grand car all the same. was roomy enough for a small car but was sluggish when overtaking etc. cruised along at 120 on the motorway alright though.

i did about a 1000k in it, and whilst I wouldnt like it for long runs all the time I couldnt really fault it.
