Was wondering if anyone could recommend any really good Polish films that are in the Polish language?

I've my eye on a few titles already, so if anyone has any feedback on the following, please do let me know if they're worth the price of a DVD:

    -Rewers (Reverse) [2009]
    -Sztuczki (Tricks) [2007]
    -Wesele (The Wedding) [2004]
-Stara baśń: Kiedy słońce było bogiem (An Ancient Tale:When the Sun was God) [2003]
-Krótki film o zabijaniu (A Short Film About Killing) [1988]
-Na srebrnym globie (On the Silver Globe) [1987]
    -Przesłuchanie (Interrogation) [1982]
    -Przypadek (Blind Chance) [1981]

A short film about killing is good.

    I haven't seen the others.

Three Colours: White is in Polish and French. I can't really remember how much of it is in each language but it's an excellent film too.

Dekalog? It's a series of short films but supposed to be excellent.

Thanks, that looks like a good one - will keep it in mind for the future. At the minute I'm trying to learn Polish, so the mix of French and Polish would probably confuse me, but once I'm confident in Polish, I'll be sure to check it out.

Excellent. That looks great. Will try to get my hands on that.

Edi is a great movie too. Nice story. Everyone Polish will want you to watch a film called Sexmisia, but it's highly overrated.

Thank you - I've added Edi to my list of must sees. I gotta say though, I do like the premise of Sexmisia - I'll probably end up watching that too.
    Cheers.

Katyn is great, as are Człowiek z marmuru (Man of Marble) and Czlowiek z zelaza (Man of Iron), all by the same director: Andrzej Wajda

Don't forget Roman Polanski either - Nóz w wodzie (Knife in the water)

Check out A Short Film About Love not as good as A Short Film About Killing but still worthwhile.

Kanal- 1956- Warsaw uprising of 1944. The film is the second of a Trilogy that includes A Generation(1954) and Ashes and Diamonds(1958).

A Short Film About Killing and A Short Film About Love are film versions of 2 parts of the Dekalog that have the same names. Dekalog was a tv series of 10 episodes, each one based on one of the commandmants.

La Double Vie de Veronique is excellent. Again, half French, half Polish.

These are all great films, esp the last one. Half the films mentioned by people other than the OP in this thread are by the rather awesome Krzysztof Kieslowski, so in short just check out his films! I've seen Camera Bluff as well, his earlier films are in Polish only.

+1 Andrzej Wajda. I haven't seen the other films on your list so I'm not much help there!
