    friend of mine reckons he could sell his 08 Passat 1.9TDi for mid 13k. Are they fetching that much?

    I'll tell you next week when we've got bids on the couple in the garage :p

    Book value is just under €14,500 for a Trendline with 72k so I wouldn't rule it out, but he'd want to be quick as they are starting to come back now off 3 year lease so there will be a large number available over the next few weeks.

    Does this mean there'll be a noticeable increase in the number of second hand fleet cars on the market? As in Passat/Mondeo/Avensis etc.

    There should be. It will generally be a mix of 07 and 08 with the majority being diesel.

    Id say a genuine 1 owner car with small mileage would go for 13.5k. Dealers are offering very close to 14.5k against a new passat with retail price of 28600. Consider they are knocking almost 2k off that for straight sale, I guess they are realistically giving about 12.5k for low mileage 08 comfortline diesel.
