its a morbid question i know, but i need to know in the event of something happening....planning ahead...

my dad lives by himself in south africa and my mom lives by herself in america...both are elderly

if one of them had to pass away what would the process be??i will have to go across to either country asap in the event of something like this happening...i think my JSA would be put on halt untill i get back, correct me if im wrong?? or would they just be bastards and stop my dole completely??

also, i may have to stay in the country of whoever dies for a while...to sort out all the stuff that goes with a death

    thanks

On production of evidence of the passing of your parent/s (and let's hope it will be a long time before that happens) the SW would likely accept your absence for a period, keep your claim open, and on your presenting yourself at the SW office on your return, free your payments for collection. The period of compassionate leave involved, during which your claim would remain open, would have to be agreed in advance with the SW office. You may know that you can take two weeks holiday every year anyway.
