    Hi lads.
Just wondering what your favorite choise of hunting rounds are. i use a .243 for both deer and fox shooting. i love the remmington ballistic acutip. I cant fault them for performance on foxes over long distances that i would not dream of shooting a deer at, and any time i miss i generally put it down to me or the fox not performing properly. The one fault i have with them is the price at €50 a box. This is fine for deer shooting, but with fox shooting the money can mount up over the year.I have tried the soft nose in different brands but never found the grouping that good at greater distances.

Federal 70 grain v-shok are a great round for the .243 i use them in mine and get very tight groups and excellent performance on deers and foxes. They are normally around 40 euro a box so still expensive but a little better than the accutips

I would also say the remington accutip.
i pay €26 for the accutips for my 223 so €50 seems expensive.

Well for foxes using the 223 I found little difference between the American eagle 55gr hpbt and the federal v-shok bt or hornaday Vmax bt at any weight. The big difference is price the AE being half the cost of the Fed/hornaday. And very little if any in grouping. But the BT ammo will open up and create more damage. 9 out of 10 foxes prefer the BT ammo.

Last year I was using Federal fusion 155 for deer stalking but found that the expansion was not as good as I wanted. This year I'm using hornaday SST 150gr BT and I'm getting the wound channel I want from the ammo

If you can get your hands on it PRVI partisan is very good ammo at VERY low cost.

I was quoted £38 for Fed V-Shok (20) The PRVI is working out at £10 (20)

All for .270 which is an expensive enough calibre to run...

heard a lot about that prvi partisan but just cant seem to find any, dealers near me say that they dont stock them because there isnt enough demand for them.

Anybody tried the 5.56/223 military rounds?

favorite hunting round of all is 55gr hornady v-max in my .223

however i am using 50gr v-max in a norma round at the moment to great effect

for the .308 i really like the 150gr sst by hornady but i am now using the 150gr sst superformance and they are excellent.

my .22lr eats winchester subs and no bunnys have complained yet

when i had a 6.5x55 the best by far was the 120gr norma BT;s

and when i had a .22mag wunchesters worked well for me

    .17 HMR- 17 gr hornady v-max

    .223 - 55gr hornady v-max

6.5x55 - 140gr Federal Fusion, tried the PRVI Partizan stuff on paper, very cheap but after 100 yds the drop was quite severe  Must get some 120gr Normas and give them a go

Norma 150g nosler balistic tips in my .300 win mag are savage flat, low on recoil and do a great job when they get there.
In the .270 Im using Federal 130g noslers but they are a little hard, dont get good expansion but speeds are very good. Just had the .270 rebarreled and if it shoots the Hornady Superformance well then my win mag could be looking for a new home!

Best of luck with the new set up!
And if superperformance SST's are as good in .270 as they are in .308 they will be AWESOME :D

I used the 168gr privi soft point as a stop gap while I was waiting for the superformance stuff to come in.
I shot 2 deer with them at about the 120 mark one in the neck and one hart.
They worked well both deer dropped on the spot. I got them for €20 a box.

i use 140 gr norma accubond in 7x64 for deer very accurate and 177 gr rws id in the same caliber for wild boar and big stags

I paid €33 lately for Sellier & Bellot 100gn soft point .243 as a stopgap, I would have thought €20 would have been nearer the mark. I usually go for Hornady 95gn ballistic tip which I have paid up to €40 for.

130 grain sst hornady superformance doin 3060 out of my little 21 inch barrel in 270 win. Flat shooting plenty of energy and expansion.

150g Federal Fusion in .308, CZ 550fs. Great round but I'm tempted to try the superformance...

Ferdral American Eagal HV in the 22 CZ 513. I like the range of the HV but will be trying Elay subs when the little girl comes back moderated! :)

Running a .25-06 with 117gr Hornady SSTs, previously shot 117gr Sierra Gamekings in it, which were slightly more accurate, but can't get them now.

I use the Federal 100Gr in .243 very effective round but getting pricey.
Was talking to that guy in Fingal Sports the other day
They have Prvi Partizan .243 100grn soft point for €70 per 100 / €14 per box and .308 150 Grn soft point for €70 per 100 / €14 per box also.

No idea how good it is but at those prices I'll try a box or 2
