So this morning I got an email from Micheal Martin. Standard letter to all members of Fianna Fail. Except that I am not a member of Fianna Fail, never have been, never voted for them and never subscribed to the website or anything else of theirs. Or indeed the Greens or any other party.

Evidently someone sold my email address, though I am reasonably careful about what I sign up to.

More to the point, Fianna Fail bought a job-lot of addresses so they could pretend the party was bigger than it really is. Not impressed.

Looks like a certain party needs to read the papers or listen to the data commissioner ;)

definitely contact the data protection commissioner, this sort of thing needs to be stomped out as early in the campaign as possible

    I got it as well:mad:

...and I'm so anti FF that the last time round they didn't even canvass me:eek:

It was a shame because I like to engage them on the doorstep for as long as possible. The best fun is when the actual candidate is at another house, so I can argue with the ones that call to my house for about twenty minutes and then get them to bring the candidate back:cool:

    It helps if it's raining:D

I'll get on to the Data Protection office;)

well...regardless of your political leanings ,if you get unsolicited e-mails, the sender is breaking the law

Well a political email differs I'd say from your average SPAM Nigerian email asking for your bank details in that even if you don't response your bank balance will be worst off no matter what post-election.

It might not be a stolen address. I signed up a couple hardcore lefty friends to FF and FG mailing lists for the laugh.

    That's evil.

Funny, but evil all the same!
