Badly damaged teeth help needed

Hi, I need some advice from any dentists out there.

I have badly damaged, mainly top teeth. Problems started during pregnancy 6 years ago. Craved very sugary food and consumed large amounts of fizzy drinks and hard sugary sweets...this sugar addiction contunued after pregnancy.

My dentist has tried to save most of the teeth by using large amounts of filling material, but this is only a temporary measure. My front teeth and 3 teeth either side are prob 50 -75% filling material at this stage.

I dont have the kind of money needed for crowns, and I dont even know if my teeth would take crowns. I can barely afford the 85 euro per filling I need each time.

Has anyone got any long term advice or ideas on how I can make my mouth look normal again. It really gets me down, and I can see myself with false teeth in a few years time and I am only in my late 20's!:(

    Hi annabelle,
You need to be able to pay for treatment somehow, nobody is going to do crowns or fillings for free. If finance is your primary barrier to getting treatment then I suggest you ring the Dublin Dental hospital (if you can get to it) and ask to be put on the treatment waiting list or ask your dentist for a referral. You will probably end up being treated by a dental student(s) under close supervision of good dentists.
You pay less than practice but you pay more in "TIME" as the teaching takes a long time. If you mave a medical card alot of things are covered (not crowns but cost alot less than most practices).

    Good luck
