is there such thing as lamp shy bunnys

myself and a mate went out tonite for a shot
bygod no shortage of bunnys but as soon as the lamp went on them they bolted
out of about 30 rabbits we only got one and missed one by as soon as the lamp went on them they were as good as gone

could there be somethin with my lamp or that , its bright enough but its not a flood light or anythin

also seen 2 foxs one was just completely out of range and wouldnt come with a call, the other was about 80 yards and we could just make out his head as it was just over a bank in a ditch
25 mins i lay in the wet grass callin him
25 mins he sat lookin at me before he trotted over the browe of the hill away

    rageing

what kind of lamp were you using?
i find when we're lamping bunnies you have to dazzle them to keep them there. if the light isnt bright enough they seem to run off. the p7 seemed unable to do this sometimes but then the white light seemed to hold others too.
some rabbits still run thought. depends too on how often they have been lamped and if people are firing and missing they know in future when the light hits them theres going to be a loud bang to follow.

try filters on the lamp as xplor.er said.

Lads with lamps & lurchers is also a possibility.

Also watch that the breeze is not blowing from behind you - carrying your scent to them.

Another obvious tip - No talking & no smoking!!!

a lad told me that if a rabbit makes for a ditch that if you lamp ahead of him it will stop him from going in. havent tried it so dont eat me:o

its also a good idea getting down and ready to fire before the lamp goes on. least then you can take the shot alot faster. if theres nutting in the field you mist feel silly though

when we're walking around between fields as we come to ditches with gaps in them or even if theres a stake, whoevers shot it is is ready to take aim and fire as soon as eyes are lit up. and we never even bother firing off the shoulder even if its only 30 yards.
i made a set of lightweight shooting sticks but we wernt out to test them yet but they should come in very handy when you spot something without a decent rest

theres how i made them. ive no pics of them but they are basically a long bipod so you can fire from kneeling or longer ones for standing

    heres ones i saw online

simple. less than a €5 and a elastic as a handle wrapped around them and linked threw ur belt yokes and back around the sticks again and you'd forget they're there. no weight in them.
