    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could pick up some fig jam around Dublin. Thanks.

    Probably Fallon and Byrne.

(Fuck I'm good, just ask me.)

Rang fallon and byrne and they have fig jam. Thanks for the advice. I tried Superquinn and M&S and neither off them had it.

Jabula on Great Strand Street in Dublin 1 sell Fig jam for less than 3 euro's according to their website.

Might be a cheaper alternative to Fallon and Byrne

I have an easy recipe for Fig jam, courtesy of Nevin Maguire Home Chef....

    3tbsp olive oil
3 red onions peeled & sliced
    225g dried figs, chopped
1 garlic clove, peeled & crushed
    150ml red wine
    2tbsp balsamic vinegar
    1tsp caster sugar
    1tsp chopped thyme

Heat olive oil, in a large saucepan over medium heat, saute onions for 10 mins till soft but not browned. Stir in the figs and garlic till well combined. Add red wine & balsamic vinegar. Cook for about 10 mins until thickened slightly - the alcohol will have cooked off.

Stir in the sugar & thyme, season with salt & pepper to taste. Blend using processor for 1-2mins until smooth. Allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight, sterlised jar, in the fridge to use as required. Keeps for up to 2 months.

Fallon & Byrne are great and I love a browse in there, always pick up a few goodies for the cupboard.

This recipe is easy to make if you are not near any of the shops mentioned in the thread.....:)
