    Hi

Please can anyone help me with the correct settings for my satellite receiver.
    It’s a Silvercrest SL65.

I think I messed up the settings as I used to have about 432 channels but I now have about 850 channels. A lot of the Channels now say no signal and I’m lost trying to find the Channels I actually watched and knew.

    I’m on Astra 28.2E
Under Set up there are four options:
    1) Antenna Set Up
    Satelite: Astra 28.2E
    LNB Type: Universal
    22k (Greyed Out): OFF
    DiSEqC: DiSEqC1.0
    DiSEqC Switch Disable
    Positioner: None
    Polarity: H/V

    2) TP Scan
    Satelite: Astra 28.2E
    TP index: 1/111
    TP Frequency: 10714MHz
    Symbol Rate: 22000Ks/s
    Polarity: H
    Scan Mode: Free
    Search
    Signal Intensity 95%
    Signal Quality 78%

    3) Preset Scan
    Satelite: Astra 28.2E
    Scan Mode: Free
    Scan Channel: TV
    Search:

    4) Auto Scan
    Satelite: Astra 28.2E
    Scan Mode: Free
    Scan Channell TV
    Search:

Many Thanks for any help provided,
    Lj.

Go to system setup in the menu and select factory settings.

This will wipe everything. Then rescan.

Add what you want to a favourites list.

Dont mess with it again! :)

    that one should be on.

though probably best wipe everything and start again

(you posted in wrong forum BTW, there is also satellite)

    ...

Incorrect; when "Universal" is selected, the 22k option is greyed out (not changeable). OPs settings are all ok.

My guess is that the OP has either rescanned 28E under another satellite name, or did a scan to list both FTA and encrypted channels.

sorry about that, how do I move post to satelite forum?

I reset to factory settings, but that only gave me 82 channels.
    ....So still stuck!

Which of the three scans should I run and change to FTA please?

    Thanks again,
    Lj.

Thanks just did that, still have all the channels.
The channels that aren't coming in (no signal) have a dollar symbol $ beside the name, if i could get rid of those channels, i think i'd be back to normal, but how do i do that?

The $ symbol means it is a scrambled (Sky) channel.

You have picked Scan All rather that Clear, Free to Air or Not-Encrypted.

The $ means encrypted. i.e. SKy's PayTV channels. You can manually delete them or delete everything and do a scan for Clear/Free stations only. (I forget what that box calls them, but the option does exist).

Its easy to move the channels into the correct order. Havnt got the remote in front of me now so have to do this from memory but:
if you press the (ok) green button and select your channel and then press (1) you can then move the channel. Press (ok) when you are happy with the position and then (ok) to save changes.

Here is a little tip for getting rid of all the junk channels:
Press the (ok) green button and then whichever number represents (edit) I think it is 5 but not sure. You will be asked for a password (00000). Not sure if it is 4 or 5 zeros. Then select (6 - delete all) then you can deselect the channels you want to keep by pressing (1) when you have selected each channel you want to keep. In other words you are deselecting them from your delete all list. When you have deselected all of these channels press the green (ok) button. This saves time compared to deleting the channels you dont want individually.

hope this helps and makes sense (I'm not very good at explaining these things). :o

Almost correct, and a good explanation, I do this myself.

Only clarifications are that to move a channel after pressing (ok) is the (2) button (1 is to add channel to favourites), and the password is 4 zeros (0000).
