    Great stuff lads.

What is interesting is that the last 1300 was built in late '74 so this was either lying around a showroom or is an import.

    Thanks.

Is the car still in good order or past it?

In the good old days when a new car was a rare thing people often drove around for gears with "For Reg" number plates on the car. A neighbour of ours bought a Toyota Starlet in 1989 but didn't register it until 1992. I remember that a bog clamp down started in 1992 but I am unsure exactly what changed.
So the car may not have been just sitting in a showroom.

Interior wise is excellent. Bottoms of doors need work and a new bonnet wouldn't go astray. The hydrolastic seems OK as it's not dropped. Couldn't see underneath but it could be a viable project. I'd only be interested as it MAY be an original Irish car thus worth saving. Mechanically it's a big 1275 Mini and poses no problems to me.

One point, none of the glass had shamrocks. If it is a '74 car, does this say definitely whether it's a CKD or an import in '76?

Ah yes the old 'For Reg! days were great, that time you could buy a car in September and look forward to having a new Reg in January. You could then call into the pub on the way home and drink three pints and smoke a few fags. Now if you did any of those three things you would be deemed a criminal :D:D:rolleyes:
Things have definitely got better :confused::confused:

Just spoke to the owner and he's looking for €2500 for it. When I told him that that would be all it's worth when restored, he wasn't impressed.
Unfortunately it will probably just rot away which is an awful shame.

In 1992 garages were obliged by law to register vehicles BEFORE handing them over to their new owners.

Funnily enough though, my father spotted a new car with 'FOR REG' on it yesterday in a local carpark. he said he didnt notice any trade plates on display?! It must have been a car salesman popping into the shops though, no garage would be silly enough to hand over a unregistered car nowadays.

Took this pic at Fingal Show last year...
