Work Dress Code

I'm starting a new job next week and I've been advised that it's business dress code. I'm in my early twenties, and not really used to the whole professional environment so I'm not really sure what to wear!

I was thinking the suit I wore to the interview, and maybe a nice blouse or dressy top, but I'm not certain how dressy I should be :)

Would love some advice as I live in jeans, t-shirt and long cardi, very student like!
Don't mind spending a bit as I will get wear out of it, hopefully. Thanks

Difficult to say without knowing what kind of office, but I'd say if unsure err on the side of formality on your first day. Your plan of wearing the interview suit sounds good. Better to look like you've made an effort than risk being too casual. After a day you'll know what it's like.

Good luck with your new job.

You can have great fun choosing office wear with all kinds of nice skirt, trousers, blouse, jacket combinations available. But before you invest in much check out the trendy/conservative balance in your industry. I'm not saying anymore, I'm no fashion expert.

I'm in the same boat, I've decided just to get enough for my first week, Two skirts (one pencil, one a-line), two fitted shirts and a smart cardigan and jumper. I'd love to buy some really pretty jewel coloured silk blouses, but I'm scared they might not fit in, so I'm keeping it simple for the moment!

Definitely don't buy too much without seeing what everyone is wearing there. I have quite a professional job but I just wear cardigans and skirts with flat shoes. I think if I turned up in a suit, they would think I was going to do an interview somewhere else!

Over dress rather than under dress on the first day of course!

Good for you , getting a new job.. hope it goes well for you....if you live near an oasis, they are the best bet for up to date professional wear that doesn't look either too formal or too casual...

They usually have really nice work dresses or skirts with either cardi's or jackets to match..

one thing..get an amazing black skirt that you love... you can wear anything with it...

but you are right... just get one or two things and test the waters... get a feel for the place..
    best of luck!
