web domain registration help

    Hi, I wish to register a web domain name, Im not sure if they idea will come to anything, but do I have to set up as a sole trader first? before the likes of letshost will allow me register the name? Also if I do set up as sole trader, just to register the domain name and then park the project for a while, as I have a full time job. What are my responsibilities as a sole trader, I.e if the business isnt even running just registered, do I have to open a bank account, file returns etc etc etc?

    Nope :) Register away. In fact if you are very keen on the name then it's a good idea to just go ahead and register it asap.

    If you want to register a .ie domain name for a business then the IEDR (Domain Registry) will need some documentation which shows why you should be entitled to that name. In that case its easier to just register the business name as a sole trader with the CRO and then you can submit the registered business number to the hosting company when you apply for the domain as evidence to support the domain name.
