Looking for a cheapish place to stay for a couple of nights while Im in Singapore.

Everything I've looked at seems to be very expensive(which I can understand since its Singapore), but surely there must be some budget accommodation for backpackers?

    Thanks

Its a good few years since I was there, but I found The Inn Crowd in Little India to be pretty good, run by a very friendly couple.

Don't forget you could sign up for CouchSurfing and not only get a free place to stay but also meet local people. I find this the best way to travel. It gives you a chance to see a place with a local's eyes.

I stayed in "A Beary Good Hostel" on Pagoda Street in Singapore. It's right beside the underground station so easy to get around, the street is pedestrianised though so you can't get a taxi to drop you right to the door. Hostel is right in the heart of China Town, so lots of restaurants close by. It's a small hostel, just 3 dorms as far as I can remember, but it's only a year old so everything is new and clean. Really good airconditioning which is great for Singapore humidity. They even offer the use of laptops and internet access for free! Try booking through hostelworld or hostels.com as it usually works out cheaper that way.

Really great to hear it's still going strong..I got so comfortable there I stayed an extra day or two in Singapore. Little India is a great area to stay in, not a shopping centre in sight!

Staying in Smeet Home near Little India, very close to a MRT station, no nothing about it besides from it being extremely cheap at around €7.50 per night! A steal! and got 90% on hostelworld
