Photoshop Drop Shadow/Outer Glow > CSS

Not sure if this is best suited to design or development, but anyway:

I'm trying to replicate the drop shadow effect from a PSD in CSS.

I've got the Photoshop drop shadow (and outer glow) settings, I'm looking for a way of converting these to the CSS box-shadow properties which will give me the closest resemblance, other than trial and error.

I'm presuming there must be a way of saying "if blend mode is multiply, and opacity is a, and distance and size are b, then you need {box-shadow: 0px ipx jpx #xxx}"

(I can't just use the image from photoshop because I can't add containing divs to apply the shadow image to.)

Is there a more scientific way of working out box-shadow setting than trial and error?
