That's for withdrawing money, not lodging it. You can't fund directly from an Irish bank account.

It's all in the Paypal FAQ.

just click topup account on the top of paypal page,it will give you the bank details you need ,then go to aib online and transfer money from your a/c to the one paypal gave details for
i often do it but usually takes 2 working days for the transfer to complete

thats the part im having trouble with.... I think it asks for a codecard or something.
I presume on AIB, i got to
    - I want to transfer money to another ROI account.
It then asks from which account and message to appear on your statement.
    So i do all that....

Then it asks for all these details which im not sure off...

Please note a Code Card will be required to complete this process.

    Step 3:

Do you wish to make this payment using?
    An NSC and account number
    A SWIFT Address/BIC and IBAN

    Receiver NSC (what's this?):

    Receiver account number:

Message to appear on receiver statement:

    Payment amount:

That's something you need to get on to AIB about, it's their security thing.

At the risk of repeating what peanut970 has said already, this is what I do.

First login to your Paypal account and go to the 'Top up account' section. This contains all the info you need for the transfer. Note your 'Transfer ID' this is the most important bit. You'll also need a Code Card from AIB, if you don't have one you can apply online for one for free.

    - Once your on AIB Internet Banking go to 'Transfer & Payments' and click on 'I want to transfer money to another ROI account'.

    - Select the account you want to transfer money out of and for the message to appear on your statement I usually enter PAYPAL.

    - Select make a new payment, and now you'll have to enter your Paypal details:

Receiver NSC = Bank code (Sorting Code)
Receiver account number = Account Number
Message to appear on receiver statement = Your Transfer ID

Enter the amount you want to transfer and click next and next again (I don't bother saving the details). Now you'll have to enter a code from your code card and click confirm. You'll be asked to enter another code for security reasons and once that's done you'll get a confirmation message.

Note: It will take about 2 to 3 working days before it will show up in your Paypal account.

peanut970's post is exactly what's in the FAQ, and I don't see any other way of doing it. You get the detail from the Top up page on your Paypal account, then go to your Internet banking and transfer the money to Paypal there. I have no option in my Paypal account to add funds from a bank account anyway.

But the way you put it in your first post, was like it wasnt possible to add funds to your paypal account from your bank account.?

You cannot fund directly from a bank account, as in you can't make a payment with Paypal and have the amount come from your bank account, like you can with a credit card funded payment. You stated that you added and verified your bank account, but this has nothing to do with making payments, and is unnecessary if you want to add funds to Paypal. Linking a bank account is for withdrawing funds, or verifying your account only.

What peanut said is correct, and this is what's stated in the FAQ.

Thanks, that was what I thought Jor El said too.

Turns out I took it up incorrectly.

No, but verifying your account is a good idea, as some sellers will refuse payments from people that are unverified (scam accounts are often unverified). Unverified accounts have restrictions on the amount they can spend too, I think.

I have used paypal before but never transferred funds from my bank account to paypal account until recently. I did that on thursday evening and it says it will take about 1 to 2 business days for it to hit my paypal account.

As of yet that has not happened.

Is there anyone who had problems with the money being lodged to their paypal account and if so what did they do?

Old thread closed. This is covered in the Paypal FAQ. See the sticky. You haven't even waited 2 days yet.
