The Central Bank isn't stupid - if it is exactly half, then they probably won't change it.
If it is mostly intact, and not enough is missing for you to try to claim the same bill twice, then they might help you.

Have you stuck them together yet? G'wan. Do it and take a pic. G'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Let's see half a €50 note is €25 and half a €20 note is €10. Therefore stick them together and you have a €35 note.....................................yes that makes sense:cool:

Why make €2,050 when you could make €5,020??

Or even a €5,020 note, the possibilities are (almost) endless!

Edit: Gdam you jubella, too quick for me.

OP, or hang around Trinity and pretend to smoke. You might make new friends.

So if I rip one in half I can go in with one half and get a new one. Then go in with the other half the next day and get a new one and double my money?

Find a good spot where the would appear to be sticking half out on the ground. Glue them to the deck, setup a camera and capture some priceless faces when people realise that 70 quid was not to be. Post videos here for great justice.

the minister has a point...seriously, cos you may think i'm joking, i would advise getting a cigerette light and scorching mainly around the torn end and lightly scorching the remainder of both notes.

you send them directly to the central bank (there's a specific department, a phone call will do it) and tell them both notes for accidentally thrown in the fire. this might allay any fears that you have cut the notes in half and are trying to claim both.

just an idea - you could just try the honest line though...

i'm not an expert on damaged currency - i just know that you can in fact get even severely damaged nootes replaced. i assume they've a system in place to stop fraud - my guess would be that even a partial serial number can be match to other parts of a serial number of notes already claimed.

ok, so rip 2 separate notes in half, stick 2 wrong half's together to form 1 note. Then go in with the other 2 half on different days... double your money!

Just one question OP ,what are the odds of finding half a 50 and half a 20 in your own home! were you ripping them up and wiping your arse with them during the boom?

OP I think the bank will only change it if it's the side of the note with the serial number on it:)

Going that far why not just make it a 5,020e note? :p

Roll up the half a fifty and smoke it outside the bar in TCD.

But both sides will have the same serial number.
