after watching the rte 1 news just now I couldn't help but cringe at the type of redneck hicks who showed up to support poor brian last night in Offaly!

the flippin state of them and their claims that all of poor brians troubles lie with the medias campaign against him.

    oh the shame!!

    whats your view?

a prophet is never accepted in his own land, so therefore we can conclude that Cowen isn't a prophet.

I'm convinced the liberal media got him in a halfnelson and made him meet with Seany FitzPatrick (AND WHO HAS CAPITALISATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR NAME, A **** THAT'S WHO), sign the bank guarantee, then they made him drive the economy into the ****ter and do nothing to fix it until too late.

    The poor man.

Why isnt the media surrounding that scumbag Bertie Ahern?

Brian Cowen was a fool to step up as leader. He knew what kinda shit was instore for this country and that he could not handle it. Infact he probably made it worse.

Dont feel sorry for him nor any politician. At the end of the day, they go home with a nice fat pay cheque and pension even if they screw us six ways till sunday.

Possibly because even though he was in charge, Cowen was the minister for finance!

To hell with Brian Cowen. To hell with everyone in Fianna Fail. To hell with anyone who supports Fianna Fail. And the others aren't much better either.

I'm sure Cowen doesn't give a toss what anyone thinks of him, positive or negative. He's laughing all the way to the off-shore bank.

moving forward - i think acceptance or none acceptance may be a considered view expressed by some people. i'm in no position to agree nor disagree with this particular viewpoint.

The media did surround Bertie, they hounded him when the whole payment thing came out during the Mahon Tribunal. Every step of the way they were screaming for his resignation.

The difference is when the whole payments thing was carrying on he went on RTE and spoke out about it. Although everything he said may have been far from the truth, he still went and faced the country.

That is where Cowen has gone wrong. If he had showed some sort of leadership and loyalty to the country as opposed to his party, he may be viewed differently. Even in interviews when he's asked a question I find him rude, arrogant and acts as if the questions being asked are nobodies business. What he forgets is that though he may not like the question, it is the country he is answering to through the reporter. Lenehan carries on in the same way.

Yes I watched that news item about his supporter's meeting and laughed and laughed. What a bunch, I'd be embarrassed if I was Cowen but of course he's so thick skinned, he'd have to look up that word in the dictionary.

As always the good old Dublin Meedja is blamed for all the mistakes FF make.

That and the slight matter of running the finances of the country as if it was a pyramid scheme during his time as Minister of Finance.

Had he or the regulators insisted that the financial organisations followed the regulations governing them then we would have been the ones bailing out Greece and Portugal and making a killing on the interest.

i'd like to state categorically that at no point was there ever a question of of us not turning a corner in some manner in terms of actually and realistically moving forward with proposals to ensure the economy could and would recover. i dispute outright the suggestion that corners were not being turned and believe it's a symptom of the over negative soundings from both the national and international media that you could even ask me that question deputy eddy.

We did help bail out Greece.
