Replacing Triton T70 7kw

    Hello,

I've had no luck sourcing a direct Triton replacement for our 23 year old Triton T70 7kw electric shower. Triton Ireland said that the T80 they sell for our 230 voltage system only comes in 9kw which requires a higher mcb rating and cable.

I'm stuck as the wiring is 6mm with 32mcb.

It's in the dad's home and we are not in position to rewire. I just want a straight swap out.

I can alter the plumbing to the unit for a different unit but I'm a bit lost as to what to get.

I found a Mira 7.5kw on tapsforless.ie but after reading its manual, it is to be fitted to a 40a mcb and I think that needs 10mm cable.

I'd hope there's something cheap out there I can use.

Shower died over cold spell with burst heater drum. I was thinking of adding a thermostatic switch to the shower room heater to be used if/when we get hit hard with prolonged cold spell again.

Look forward to upgrading from sponge washes in near future. Had a T80 shower ready to fit when I saw power rating and realised it would cook the cable supply.

Any suggestions on electric showers that would suit are welcome.

    pat

    Its an electric shower yes?

So the current replacement is a T80 8.5KW. If you dont want to break tiles then surface mounting cable is an option
