Movies-at.ie Annoying booking system!

    Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone can shed light on this and/or have suggestions for getting around it.

The movies-at.ie online booking system is kind of infuriating. They obviously refresh their listings and movie times for the following week on a thursday meaning when you try and book a movie, you can only do so up to thursday of that week. See: http://www.onlinecinematickets.com/index.php?s=M-DUNDRUM&p=details&eventCode=6155

It happened last week when I wanted to book Black Swan for Friday night, and ended up not being able to get a seat.

Say I wanted to book for this friday, I can't. Or at least I can't see anyway to do so - any ideas? Am I totally blind? Are all cinemas like this? I haven't booked anywhere else in a while - except for Its A Wonderful Life in the Stillorgan Ormonde but they were taking advanced bookings as it was a one-off special.

    Thanks

Used to work there. It's usually on a Tuesday/Wednesday morning that you can see up until the following Thursday (9 days later), unless it is for a big movie that they put on sale a few weeks in advance (knowing that it will be going into their Screen 1).

The reason for this being, a cinema week runs from Friday-Thursday, due to films always coming out on Fridays. They have to weigh-up what film merits the bigger screens, and this is all due to ticket-sales in America (obviously this doesn't include films that are released on the same date over here) - also, if a film is doing dismal attendances, they will cease to show it. If there are no newer movies on that day, they will show the best selling film at the time in the screen of the first one.

Because you are choosing your seats, this needs to be decided before the tickets can go on sale, so that is why there is always less amount of advance in booking for a cinema.

Not sure if I'm making any sense at all here for you, but hope I helped!!

Cool thanks a mill for reply!

I did think it was something like that alright, but I can't understand why they wouldn't want people booking far in advance.

Truthfully, I've been keeping an eye on Harry Potter's times all week as I hadn't time to see it until now but looks like I've missed it! Oh well...

    Thanks again!
