These are the 2009 version and weigh 1610 grams. The current price on these is €500 in chainreactions.

I used these mainly last Summer and they are in very good condition. They are perfectly true and straight and are a very stiff wheel with nice bladed spokes.

Looking for €240 for them. Just have too many sets of wheels and none get used enough!

    These have a campagnolo freehub.

    Hi,

Is the freehub Campagnolo? Are tyres and cassette included in the price?

    Where are you based?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 46 Sigean

Hi chakattack - yes the freehub is Campagnolo.

I plan on keeping the tyres as you can never have enough but am happy to include two new, unused tubes, if that's a help.

Also, the wheels currently have a 10 speed chorus cassette with approx 200 miles that I happy to sell for €60. It is an 11-25.

Sorry - should have included that I work in the city centre. Live in Churchtown.

    Thanks Sigean,

    I've loads of tubes!

If you can include the pro race 3 tyres and cassette in the asking price I'd be interested.

    Thanks chakattack.

The wheels cost about 500 new and a chorus cassette over 100 with tyres around 60 for the pair - so I definitely can't sell these for 240!

I am happy to accept an offer for the wheels and cassette (which is basically new), if you are interested in both.

I would prefer to hold onto the tyres but am willing to think about an offer for everything.

    Appreciate the interest.

Hi DirkVoodoo - Thanks for the offer.

If we could meet in the middle at 220 I would happy to sell them.

No thanks, 200 was my absolute max. Best of luck with the sale.

Are these wheels still for sale?

Yep - are they still for sale and is the hub compatible with shimano casettes - bit clumsy that- I mean specifically, can you put a shimano 9 speed casette on these?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 46 Sigean

Hi - yes the wheels are still available. No concrete offers yet.

The freehub does not accept Shimano cassettes but Marchisio and other companies make Shimano compatible cassettes that fit on Campagnolo freehubs.

Thanks I'll look into it, depending on cost of cassettes etc. Ideally I want to be able to swap cassettes on demand - I'll hold off a week or so and if they go - sure its my loss!!! (It means a trip up to Dublin for me unless you happen to drive through Fermoy on a regular basis which I very mucg doubt)!

Might be down Lismore way over the next few weeks!

Jees - Sorry for the pain in the ar-e questions but Im a born again cyclist (used to race way back when) and technology has surpassed me a bit. Im riding an old steel frame which does have clearance for the 9 speed casettes. Im wondering (If you have the answers) 1) Should I be able to run a ten speed casette - in other words is it that they squish another cog in the same amount of space (to put it crudely) 2) If not, is it a simple case of me getting a 9 speed cassette? 3) Is there a particular 10speed compatable chain that I need to run on this? - the implication being that I wouldn't be able to swap wheels regularly. 4) Is there a special type of chain ring for the 10 speed or is a chain ring a chain ring? SORRY for all the questions but im pretty interested and its a lot of money for me.

    Fiachra.

No problem at all Fiachra - I'll help in anyway that I can and hopefully some people more knowledgeable than me can also provide some information.

    1) Should I be able to run a ten speed cassette - in other words is it that they squish another cog in the same amount of space (to put it crudely)

I am pretty sure that for both Shimano and Campagnolo no additional space is required if fitting a 10 or 9 speed cassette. The frame width between dropouts should be 130mm (with some tolerance) for either 9, 10 or 11 speed hubs. This rear wheel specifically will accept 9, 10 and 11 speed campagnolo cassettes directly and will also accept 9 and 10 speed shimano compatible ones made by other companies. If you are currently using a 9 speed cassette in your frame then this would also fit.

    2) If not, is it a simple case of me getting a 9 speed cassette?

You can use 9 speed if that is what you prefer but you are not limited to that.

    3) Is there a particular 10speed compatable chain that I need to run on this? - the implication being that I wouldn't be able to swap wheels regularly.

The chain you run will depend if you decide to use a 9 or 10 speed cassette. They are made by both campagnolo, shimano and other manufacturers to specific widths based on the number of sprockets in the cassettes - i.e. a 10 speed chain would need to be narrower due to the fact that the sprockets are closer to one another on the cassette. So if it was me I would have all wheels with the same number of sprockets and therefore they would be interchangeable on the same bike.

    4) Is there a special type of chain ring for the 10 speed or is a chain ring a chain ring?

I believe you can interchange 10 and 9 speed chainrings - although manufacturers would not recommend this. I personally would keep things consistent in terms of chain, cassette and chainrings. Others would be more flexible in what they use.

Feel free to PM me if I can with additional information.

Grand job - I have a 9 speed ultegra trigger shift brake lever thingy I was donated so will stick to the 9 speed. So far Ive been using the shifters on the down tube! - Grand if your not in a hurry! Will mull over it for a bit, by all means sell the wheels if you get an offer, otherwise let me know when your coming to Listmore.

    Thanks
