Anyone bought guns from this site? what are the costs involved ie. secure shipping, Import taxes (secondhand rifle), and Irish RFD handling costs roughly? Is it worth the hassle.......
Just a thought - can you get gun serial no., obtain licence and then travel over to pick up gun?
    cheers cc 30

I did just that a few years ago, bought a couple of rifles, got serial numbers etc and went to the local guards. I filled out the forms as usual and paid my money, the guards wanted to see the rifles before licencing them and I explained (again) that this was not possible but to google them. After about eight weeks and several calls I got to see the guard who I dealt with first who told me she didn't know what to do with the application and had just left it in the in tray. I explained all the licencing procedure to her again and a few weeks later got my licences. I applied to the DOJ for import permits via phone and email and got these within days.

I then phoned the dealer in UK and ask him to check delivery costs. The cheapest quote he got was over £400 sterling. I asked him if I came over could he deliver me and the rifles to the airport (he was near an airport), he said no problem. I flew over and back for €100 with no hassles at all except trying to find someone in security to check the rifles. In Dublin the customs lads took me to a room and checked the rifles against my licences and sent me on my way rejoycing. About six months later the local FO phoned me to ask did I ever find out how to get the rifles into Ireland.

Things my have changed since, but I found the lads in the DOJ very helpfull, I'd phone them first.

I bought my 270 from Guntrader. You can have it secure posted to an RFD in the North and then you just 'buy' it from them. Should cost about £50 but will prob be about £70...
