Laptop Overheating.

    My laptop keeps overheating and turning itself off,especially when I'm watching videos or something.Is there anything I can do to stop this?

    Where do you have the laptop when you are using it i.e. on your lap, on a table etc. Make sure the air vents on your laptop are not blocked. I know of several people whos laptops overheated because they were using it on the their bed.

    Is the fan inlet at the base of the laptop?
    Some Dell laptops are very prone to overheating.
    When you remove the cover the fan itself may look clean but the plastic channel from the fan to the side of the laptop may be clogged.

    Yeah I use it in bed alot but the fan has completely stopped working now.Looks like I'll have to open it up and give it a clean.
