This may have been done before, but just a query that some of you guys might be able to answer.

Is their anyway of becoming a paramedic in Ireland apart from HSE and DFB.

You often hear of people going to scotland and uk but how long is the training there.

This might sound stupid but if you became an EMT in Ireland privately, is there anyway that you could do a lot of different courses and in a way upskill to paramedic without actually having to go through HSE/DFB training.

You hear people talking about online courses... is this all rubbish.

    In Ireland , No.

YOu could go abroad and do a course they return and apply to PHECC for reciprocity.

yes it's been done to death before, but as per maglite...nope, no other way to do it!

Some private schools may begin to offer Paramedic training at some stage in the future but as of now its HSE or DFB only.

No way to "upskill" from EMT at the moment.

Depending where you go in UK, it can be an internal Technician > Paramedic course or a 4 year BSc in Paramedical Science in one of the universities. So you can apply directly to an NHS Ambulance Trust for employment and go that route, or apply through UCAS (UK CAO equivalent) and go to 3rd level.

Online courses...maybe they do exist, but I seriously doubt PHECC would give any reciprocity for a qualification gained online!

Think this is the course online that everyone was talkign about

    Open university

I wonder could irish persons do this course if they secured placements themselves.

Even if you did, you could spend all tha money and time and PHECC probably still wouldnt recognise it.

Bit of a joke the way you cant study paramedic courses in college or privately

That course is open only to current serving Paramedics who wish to gain a degree in their profession and whose employer is supporting them.

Private Paramedic training will happen at some stage in this country, but expect the cost to be anywhere around the 20k mark...the 1 year internship is also going to cause a bit of a problem I would imagine.

You want other people's work that you're going to submit to a tutor for marking? Did I read that right?
