In this country is there a law that says a tractor has to pull over when there are a certain number of other vehicales stuck behind it?

Just curious cos I was one of about 10 cars stuck behind a tractor for about 10 minutes today with little or no oppurtunity to pass.

The driver of the tractor also ignored about 3/4 chances to pull in.

There is no explicit rule which say that he has to pull over. The only thing I can think of is Section 51A of the RTA 1961 (inserted in 68) which states that ..

A person shall not drive a vehicle in a public place without reasonable consideration for other persons using the place.

What constitutes 'reasonable consideration' is down to a judge to interpret and define.

The biggest problem is more recent Tractors are can do anything from 35-60km/h with higher speed gearboxes and they feel they have the same privilige to cruise on regardless of the queue behind them.

Thats why when someone does pull over to let traffic by I make sure to acknowledge the fact - if they don't i pent up all my anger and give them a 'fierce look' when i overtake... i'm so brave..
