    Hi,
I just got my first car and I bought a radio for it and my dad put it in.

However when the car is turned off and back on the presets all disappear.
I thought it might be a loose wire so I tried to take it out with the removal tools only to find that only one side will come out and the other side is not catching I tried to look in and I can't see anything on that side for it to into.

Any ideas why or how I can get it out.

    Thanks

The issue is you need to swap the red/yellow wires, where it has red to red you need to switch them both to red to yellow, there's bullclips on the end of each, just reconnect them to the other colour and the stations will all save. How your going to get the radio back out I don't know.

presumably your car is either jap or German and you have a radio for the other type eg iso or din connections. din being Japanese, you need to get an adapter to suit the car and the type of radio, the best place to get this is probably halfords as the staff will get the right one for you, instead of you going on the likes of ebay with out a clue of what to get, dont pay over 12 euro for one though.

I actually have the adapter but he never put it in as it all connected

The main problem is getting the radio out, any ideas on why it wont catch or how to get it out?

im not familiar with the astra dash but it sounds like you broke something so it wont catch, can you remove any panels or trays from underneath or above the radio to access the radio cover/holder metal thing, you may have to bend the tabs back to get it out, use the adapter, why do you think it came with the radio.

    I feel very stupid now.

I got it off and put my proper adapter in.

I was taking the faceplate off (like the instructions said) but I didnt realize that I also had to take off the plastic around the outside of the radio as there was two "holes" on either side in same place that they fit into perfect. So I thought the keys went in there.

Anyway I took it of and it came out no problem.

    Sorry for bothering yous
