Voip - Sip server needed?

Hoping someone can help me here. I recently got a hold of a Grandstream GXP2110 - and so far so good, it lights up! I got this for free, problem being I don't really know what I need to set it up. Ideally I want to have it plugged into the router so that relatives in the states will be able to call an american number which will be forwarded to the voip phone.

There in lies the problem! I wouldn't mind if it was just skype calls coming in on it, but I would love to use the callcentric.com & ipkall.com system as it seems to be more popular.

I can't for the life of me figure out the settings. The phone is asking for close to 1 a4 page of proxy this and sip server outbound etc. The only details I've been emailed are about a 3 lines - if that.

Do I need a server such as asterix for this phone? I just want a plug and play job - or else I'll just get rid of the phone.

Typically there are just 3 important settings : Sip server, username & password.

You don't need a server, you just need an account with a SIP provider (e.g. callcentric.com) and then you setup your SIP device with these account details. Each provider will have instructions on their website for your device or a similar one.
