Hi I recently bought a new LCD tv that has a USB socket on the back that I can plug in a USB drive with films, photos mp3s on it that I can watch on listen to. When I'm finished watching the video on the drive I unplug it go back to the pc to change the film(S) pictures or whatever. I would like to know I anyone knows if there is such a thing as a wireless USB data key or drive that I can plug in to the back of the tv and then transfer the files to & from it over my wireless network. I was looking at this http://bit.ly/hPDfzy from Iomega might do the job but I'm not 100% sure. Any views would be appreciated.

what about going a bit further? something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LaCinema-Classic-Multimedia-Definition-Player/dp/B0037RFRSS/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1295992655&sr=1-5

it's got 1TB of storage, so you can pretty much put all your movies/music/pictures on it (assuming you don't have a ridiculous library!) and it can accept a multitude of USB wifi adapters to allow you to transfer to/from it wirelessly when you've watched everything on it too!

I'm not sure what you have selected would do the job.
Maybe you could try a VGA sender? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cables-Go-Wireless-VGA-Adapter/dp/B002LZUMGE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=computers&qid=1295998217&sr=8-1
Only thing is you'd need to have your laptop/desktop/whatever on to stream the data.

Thanks Adam, welll that looks interesting & it may well be what I need. If it acts as a usb drive when I plug it in the tv and my network recognises it as a wireless drive then it is what I want. I must study specs and reviews to make sure it ticks both those boxes.

Thanks gouche, what I'm really looking for is something to transmit the actual video files from the pc in one room in the house to the drive thats plugged into the tv in the opposite end through the broadband router.

no problem pbarr. what i actually went looking for is a cheaper equivalent to what i found, my mate has a box that connects to the wireless network without the need for an extra adapter purchase i.e. built-in wireless, and it also doesn't have the built in hard drive, so it's a bit cheaper, but i cant remember what it was called! i'm sure someone will be along to help!

Adam can you answer one question about this item. I take it hasn't built in wireless but can you plug in a wireless usb adapter to make it wireless as I intend leaving it plugged in to the tv all of the time but my router is in the attic and the pc is in a room at the other end of the house. I just haven't seen any mention of wireless connectivity in the product descriptions.
