    hi

i have FL 8 and havent used it have it a good while but im going to get stuck into it so have a few questions.

    1. how good is it? is it very basic/beginner? ill be looking to make progressive house/trance aswel as electro. they would be the 3 but will dabble in every genre eventually

    2. should i get another programme or invest in something better, ableton etc?

    3. havent produced anything yet but when im happy with any tunes am i able to get them onto soundcloud?

    cheers in advance

There's an actual forum for Dance music production on boards so you're better off asking there http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1225#

I could be wrong but from my brief knowledge of music production no DAW is suited to genres than other, it's more down to how it suits the users and what the user can make of it's capabilities. FL has always been known as one of the more user friendly DAWS so I wouldn't worry about that. No DAW is aimed at specific genres tbh, it's more down to what VSTs you have and your sample library, only difference is some DAWs come with a larger library of samples but in most cases that wont matter as there's plenty of samples down there to download.

When I was thinking about starting everyone recommended to me to stick with one program, learn it inside out and then get another program if you wish so I'd say stick with FL for now, supposed to be one of the easier DAWs to get your head around. Ye all you have to do for soundcloud is set up an account and then I think it comes with 1 free hour of space. If you pay I think you can get something like 3 hours and your account has a lot more capabilities I think.
