    :confused:Hey guys,

Just your advise here would be great! Going out with my boyf for a year now - everything going great! Just one thing that just showed itself up today in black and white....

He is very cocky at times! Just on little things, he did a driving assessment and he was saying not joking or anything 'oh im a superb driver, Im just great at it' and then got think when \I pulled him up on it.

TodaY I had the MOTHER of all bad days! just went from bad to worst, filled my car with diesel discovered I left my purse elsewhere - I didnt ask for his help but told him about it later - then he starts lecturing me on how I should always have cash on me, it was 'thing I'd do' and that its was thick etc (all on front of his mother so I couldnt say much)..... not once did he just say oh hope your okay/feeling better or anything - and my day really did get worse than that....

Im just really dissapointed if anything,,,,,, any advise on what to do or say or anything? thanks

Not being smart here - but you could just say - "Bye loser!"

I mean disrespecting you in front of his mother? Mothers are always tough to get past - but wish you all the best now there.
Also suggest you let him know why - and I mean exactly why - otherwise he will just repeat repeat repeat....

OP, this is not a dig but how is the relationship going so great if he is so unsupportive and derogatory?

If i was in your situation the cockiness I could handle, I'd just think it was funny ,especially if it was unfounded. However it is not acceptable for him to berate you about things in front of other people and I suggest you confront him on this when you are alone or give him some kind of look or signal if he does it in front of other people to warn him to lay off, it's showing a slight lack of respect. Maybe he doesn't realise he's doing it, but that's no excuse, don't let him put you down in front of other people.

Theres constructive criticism. And then theres hyper criticism of the nagging, pointless or unhelpful variety. I agree with Taltos that its likely to repeat. It sounds like an ingrained pattern of behaviour. I'd be worried about how he's going to behave in future, for example, over a really serious issue when you need his support.

whats he like in general? If he is nice Id just talk to him about how he comes across. Guys often look for solutions so when you spoke about your problems he might have thought he was helping you when he was telling you how to avoid these things. Mightnt have crossed his mind that what you wanted was a hug and some sympathy, not a solution. Might even be a bit mortified if you said how he came across to you

If he acts like that now, what will he be like in the future. Things will get worse over time. Better find out now than later, P.45 time

forgetting your purse is so so easy to do and whilst it is a common thing it is still embarrasing! he should not have been so mean to you :(

Short answer is the guy is a jerk op.

Alot of women have gone through the same as you. Some go for a very confident man (which alot can just be plain out cocky) then this stuff can happen later on ...

If you really are getting to the point where his behaviour is too much - break up. This is a personality trait. Aint likely to change.
