I planned on buying the Sony KDL40BX400 that was €450 in Tesco and Argos in the sales but i was waiting to get paid and now they are back up in price! There was a big thread on it and buyers were happy with it. The KDL40EX401 is €499 in power city at the moment and is identical apart from a dark grey lower front panel. Id prefer it in the black of the BX though.

An alternative for the same price is the highly rated Samsung LE40C530 which has an almost identical spec to the Sony. I find it hard to pick one or the other so would welcome any opinion. If the Sony was still on sale id happily buy it and save the €50 but now the decision is a little more difficult.

I have the Sony. Now I do not know much about that Samsung but I love the Sony. We do have an older Samsung 40" LCD Tv in the house (about 3 years old) so obviously it won't have the same spec or much to compare against but I like the software on the Sony. My review is obviously going to be about the Sony since I haven't tried any recent Samsung models.

The remote is great and easy to switch through to other HDMI ports (not sure if Samsung have changed there menu since ours was made) I find the Samsung that we have a real pain to change through the HDMI ports.

The picture is great on the Sony I found playing Blu Ray movies were great and the blacks were proper blacks. Theater mode really makes the picture that much better I find.

The home button to access your USB device and analoge and digital signals is the exact same menu system as the PS3/PSP.
