Analogue signal reduced when recorder is off!

I have an Sony DVD/HDD analogue/digital recorder connected up to a Sharp TV with analogue tuner. The aerial first goes into the recorder and then to the TV. However only recently I have noticed that when the recorder is turned off the analogue signal on the TV is reduced somewhat and when the recorder is turned on the signal on the TV improves. This has only happened in last few days. What could be the reason for this and anyone any ideas as to how this might be resolved? I simply don't want the bother of having to turn on the recorder every time I want a decent signal on the TV.

Just solved the problem by changing standby mode from Mode 1 to Mode 2 in Recorder settings so that when recorder is turned off aerial input signals are output to connected TV. Hope this is of help to others.
