    Sure whats the harm?
Its about time the dead did somehing for us. Lazy ba'stards!

Conservative-run Redditch Borough Council believes it would be an environmentally good use of energy and could save £14,000 a year at the Abbey Stadium pool. The local authority maintains it would help reduce carbon emissions from energy which would otherwise be exhausted into the atmosphere.

But officials from the union Unison have called the plans "sick and an insult to local residents".

Roger McKenzie, Unison's West Midlands regional secretary, said: "It goes to show yet again that the Conservatives know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

"Unfortunately, local authorities are increasingly pursuing desperate policies in a reaction to the unprecedented spending cuts imposed from Whitehall."
He wants the council to apologise to people in the area for the "insulting and insensitive" proposals.

But the local authority wants to press ahead with consultations over the plan.

A series of briefings will be held later this week, with religious groups, funeral directors and members of the public.

Heat is heat I suppose, you would want some throughput of bodies to keep the pool warm though

With the ever increasing cost of fuel we will all have to get inventive.

Nonsense, it's just excess heat that'll go to waste anyway. It's not like they're using the ashes to heat the pool.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Pretty good idea actually. Wish our councils would think of stuff like this rather than sitting around doing feck all.

Would it be too far of a stretch to suggest burning county councillors alive, specifically FF ones?

Not for heating purposes, just, you know, entertainment.

    /puts on aul fella's cap

Having swam in Pres pool in Bray back in the day and lived to tell the tale, I don't think I'd be too bothered by it. If those people from Redditch had experienced that hole in the ground full of miscellaneous fluid they'd be glad thay have proper water to swim in, and wouldn't be bothered where their heat is coming from :|

so whats next. We could use coffins for road barriers. gravestones can be crumbled up to fill in the potholes that are everywhere and all the photos that the dead leave behind can be recycled and made into Jedward posters.

God dammit, but the future looks bright

During the 19th century when Egypt was colonised by the British there was so many mummies dug up in the search for buried treasure that the steam trains to Alexandria and Cairo were powered by burning the dried out mummies in the firebox, as Coal and Wood were in short supply in the desert. So I guess this is not the first time the dead have been recycled!

The commandant of Auschwitz apparantly had his bath located near a crematorium so that he wouldn't get cold.

Ha! Jesus. That place was terrible. I remember the lifeguard scooping a cockroach out of the water on more than one occasion. I'm pretty sure our 'gala' was cancelled too because of that infestation. Good times.

One of my friends who went to pres told me that in 6th year (like 3 years ago for him) they actually used the empty pool as a study hall. Just threw boards over it. Hilarious.
