Thinking of getting something like this but it is being sold for 6k.

    http://www.autotrader.ie/search/Chrysler/Crossfire/3.2-V6/201103200938630/advert?channel=CARS

what do you guys think? more to run round in rather than doing proper mileage. The only thing that worries me is the 26mpg.

I really want a sports coupe that looks amazing but is petrol friendly too. if you dont rate the crossfire any other suggestions?

    Cheers :)

I wouldn't touch one of them tbh. I have no experience with the car at all, but i'd expect a 3.2 litre V6 to produce more than 215bhp. That and it's dog ugly!

OP, have you calculated the VRT on that car? Could be close to the purchase price. Might be cheaper to buy one down here as they are generally unloved.

Do you really want a sports coupé, or would a sporty-looking coupé satisfy you just as well? If the latter, there are lots with 1.8 to 2.0 engines that would cost far less to run.

sporty looking coupe is just fine anan. I think that is what i am really after.

I like the look of the car. No VRT as the one I am looking at is from the south

You're still looking at the guts of an extra €1000pa over a 2.0 to tax it, though, plus extra fuel & servicing costs. How about a Mercedes SLK200?

I know - running and maintenance will be high - any alternatives you could suggest?

    I like it. It's a bit different.

Hyundai Coupe? Sporty looking, but pretty regular, reliable and cheap to run underneath.

The Crossfire is really just an SLK in drag. I've never looked at the details of them but it could well be a bit lighter than the SLK with its fancy folding roof.
But, if you start to think SLK you have to think Boxster/Z4:)

Lovely cars - my budget is about 5000-6000 euro max. its a shame the crossfire is a 3.2. with petrol prices what they are I would prefer something under 2 litres

    3.2 - ouch.

I drove various Hyundai coupes when I was in the market for something nippy. I really didn't like the interiors, and they really weren't as responsive as they look like they should be! Still, plenty of them around and supposed to be reliable alright ..

The Celica would be an option, the 190 BHP VVTLI is a really nice car, only 1.8 l and in normal driving can get 30+MPG
