Remote Controller

    Hi folks.

Just looking for advice on getting a remote controller for a 500D (I'm making my first attempt at a time lapse).

I was originally looking at getting this one from Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Canon-TC80N3-Remote-Control-Cameras/dp/B00009XVA3

But I don't have much time as I was hoping to bring it on holidays with me, so I was tempted to just get one in a shop and practice with it before heading off. The camera shop in Blanch shopping centre have some sort of a cheaper version of one that works with Canons, he called it a "Giga T Pro". This is what Google found - http://www.360tacticalvr.com/giga-t-pro-canon.html

So I'm pretty sure this is what they have.

My question is - is this thing a piece of junk? Or is it a genuine replacement for the rather more expensive Canon TC80N3?

The Giga T Pro is 80 euro in the shop.

    Thanks in advance.

Friend of mine has that one you linked and it's pretty good. I've used it a couple of times. Think it's limited in the number of shots it can take though, something like 99. You can always reset it though.

Which one that I linked? The cheap one in the shop? Ah if it can only do 99 shots it's pointless I reckon.

Sorry, it was the hahnel one. Works as a good wireless remote release too. Check the specs, it might be more than that as I can't remember exactly.

Anybody any experience with this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Timer-Remote-Canon-D2000/dp/B003F69JBW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1295966721&sr=8-2

It's a much cheaper alternative but I suspect it'd be shipped in direct from China.

    Hi,

I recently bought this from Deal Extreme. Price is $40. Shipping took about three weeks, and it does an unlimited number of shots. I'm looking at doing some time lapse with my Canon 400D.

That looks exactly like my Yonguno MC-36b, I haven't had it long and have only used it twice but it seems to be fine, a bit better built than your average cheap Chinese ebay import actually.
