What do you make of this? I'd really like to see some derivation of c=fh
and since fh would yield joules, consciousnes would be measured in joules /not the most coherent questions at 5am

How exactly would this 'explain that artificial awareness needs to be via independent processors and not via complex algorithms'?

The first part is accurate enough insofar as the brain is a network. C = hf makes no sense however, as that is the equation for the energy of a photon, which has a plane-wave quantum wavefunction. Consciousness is neither energy nor a photon/plane-wave free particle. In the rest of the film he mixes some basic scientific facts with vague phrasing that could be interpreted many different ways, with no rigour.

ye it just says things like this solved the mysterious big bang horizon problem or arrow of time mystery with a lot of not actually saying anything. I think he was trying to say that consciousness = energy so I really dont know where that came from. mmm 5am musings :P

Would you not consider that it might be a potential? Akin to an electrical potential, gravitational potential, ...

Finding a new form of Energy doesn't violate any conservation law. There's no law of conservation of conservations-of-energies!

Everything is a form of energy, but you can't describe everything with a
simple equation in the way it is advocated, it's like me saying that you are
described by E = hL where E is energy, h is Planck's constant and L is your
life :pac: Give my friend a documentary, I'm doing more research into the
ramifications of this complex equation & wish to remain annonymous :cool:

I really hate these Bleep Quantum connectedness fads, they remind me of
the image of businessmen going to $100+ Rolling Stones concerts and paying
to get 'into the groove' of life for an afternoon, I wouldn't be surprised if
their is a lot of money involved in (to be made from) this.

unsolved problems but will also change scientists' theories about the origin
of the universe, as Boumaaza's research addresses many known flaws of
the big bang theory and even suggests that, in a sense, time itself may be
going backwards, which could settle the scientific debate surrounding the
'arrow of time'.

As documented in a new feature-length documentary dedicated entirely to
Chiren Boumaaza's work, the key in his theory is based on De Broglie's
fundamental equations which describe the nature of all matter and energy.
According to Chiren, what had been previously overlooked is that these
equations also apply to every quantized unit of spacetime that is
necessary for consciousness to exist.

While many quantum theorists have often explored esoteric ideas in
relation to consciousness, Chiren's discoveries pertain purely to the
mathematical consequences of how consciousness, as a quantized
reference frame, must be taken into account when exploring fundamental
concepts such as the arrow of time, and in relation to it, the big bang
theory.

Consciousness is an emergent phenomenon; a product of neural networks. These networks have mass, and mass is related to energy by Einstein's energy-momentum equation, but calling consciousness a quantified energy is like calling Microsoft office a quantified energy. Even if we bend over backwards and quantify consciousness as energy, we still would never quantify it using either C = hf or De Broglie's equation, which is simply the old quantum theory equivalent of the free-particle wavefunction.

Brain waves measured for EEG's are used in medicine to determine the activity within the brain. The more brainwaves the the more energy burned by the brain. And the higher the frequency the more energy used by the brain. That is the only way I can see a tenous link between frequency and consiousness.

I did a module on Artifical intelligence and remember the lecturer saying that neural networks are essentially a statistical device and everthing behind it can be rewritten using statistics equations. So maybe this fuelled some link between the statistical quantum world and conciousness in the video.

Brain Computer Analogy...

If have a CPU with frequency 2Ghz it will of course burn more energy than a CPU 1Ghz.

If these two computers are running the same software in a loop both have consiousness...

Does this mean one computer has twice the consiousness as the other?
Is Consiousness just a scalar quantitive property a number? Surely there is a qualitative aspect also to Consiousness.?

Consiousness is still a very subjective term...look at all the areas is has meaning...try convincing all these people consiousness can be reduced to a number.

This thread reminded me of a book I read some years back. In it Roger Penrose argued that concious cannot be modeled by an algorithm, never mind an equation. Of course it would be very hard to prove what he says is wrong ;-)
