    i was wondering could anyone fill me in i got stopped to day for speeding but was nt qputed the section as to y i being stopped also i was never informed by the gards that i would be getting fined all i was told was that u ll get that in the post does anyone know do they have to qoute under the road traffic act y they are stopping u and also if they have to inform u bout the fine.. thanks

    No, there's no requirement to outline the section, in fact Gardai are required to inform the person of the offence in "common language" which the person will understand. Also it's common knowledge that the penalty for speeding is a fine and penalty points. I do tell motorists of the fine and points, but that's just me.

    I think you should challenge it; any judge in the land will be persuaded by your clarity of thought and expression.
