Mondeo.... fuel pump problem??

Hi, i have a 99 Mondeo 1.6 zetec, have started to notice the car is stuttering a lot lately, surging and then dying. When the car is idle there is a slight clunking noise under the fuel tank on the passenger rear side, starts to idle rough like its being starved of petrol. Just wondering if this is a fuel pump problem or…

Hi, i have a 99 Mondeo 1.6 zetec, have started to notice the car is stuttering a lot lately, surging and then dying. When the car is idle there is a slight clunking noise under the fuel tank on the passenger rear side, starts to idle rough like its being starved of petrol. Just wondering if this is a fuel pump problem or could it be something else ?? If so are they difficult and expensive to replace ?? Would i better getting a new or 2nd hand one?? Many thanks

Get it checked out first and if it is gone replace it with a brand new unit and a new filter.
