Should I try different skis?

I'm wondering if maybe my old skis have had it... I have them about 6 years since I was a novice and they have served me well, but I'm wondering if I have outgrown them. They are Dynastar exclusive 9 from 2004, and 142cm.
I'm skiing this week with a pretty good fast group who have all been skiing for years (and I'm chuffed I can keep up with them
) and I was grand on blues and reds, well able to keep up, but on steep blacks I found the skis shaking and wobbling all over the place... almost like as if it was ice, but it wasn't. Does that make any sense?
Is that me, ie my legs or my technique or could it be the skis? I don't really want to rent skis after lugging my own with me, but I will if it would help. If so, what should I look for?
