Leaky Golf

Have an 03 golf with a sunroof.

The floor of my boot is wet and its causing the car to smell damp. I'm aware of the sunroof drains and I'm sure that they are clear. There is no visible marks on the ceiling and sides of the interior. The rear washer works perfectly and there is a heavy concentration of washer fluid so I'd know if it was coming from there.

Does anyone know offhand if this and common problem? Could anybody recommend a place to investigate/fix it? I preferably not bring it to a dealer because I doubt they would have a clue and they would probably charge me loads before even finding the leak.

I've heard the washer pipe to the rear of the car can go in Golfs and Polo's of that era. I'm pretty sure it's in the actual boot "door" that it goes, that's what i'd check first. I know you said that it seems to be working fine, but it could be leaking.

In our previous 2000 Golf the rear washer piper froze and split on in the passenger side C pillar, dumping water into the boot. I know you don't think this is your problem, but it is the first place I would look.

Yeah, as said already its likely to be the rear washer pipe.

The rear washer worked on my one but still leaked a bit of water until it finally went and poured out.

Its good that you found out about the sunroof/roof drains as they are easy to keep clear once you get the junk out of them.
How have you checked that all the roof drains are clear?

Cheers, I'll look into the possibility of it being the washer fluid line.

If you push the wiper stalk forward and only a dribble is spraying from the rear washer, then thats the culprit.
