    Hi,

I will be moving to Australia later in the year. I have a 01 Skoda Octavia. Is there any market for this car?

I was thinking it may be of use to someone that plans to buy a new car but doesn't currently have one to use in the scrappage deal.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. That is reassuring. I will be going around September. It is a 1.9 Diesel ambiante.

The thing just goes & goes. Had it 5 years & not had to spend a cent on it & it just passed the NCT on Friday.

its worth money on its own merits, but as for someone wanting it for scrappage, the car has to be actually registered in someones name for 12 months for them to avail of the scrappage scheme. As the scheme has only 6 months to run this time, nobody will buy it with a view to cash it in against a new one.

Well I hope you spent money on it at services :p

Seriously though, there is a market for it out there IMO.

Considering the year and the fact its a Skoda it probably has one of the most bulletproof TDI engines in it.

If its a good example of the car it will sell.

If you have not spent a cent in 5 years you had better change the timing belt ;)

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the 12 month rule but it makes sense.

It cannot be used by the new owner for the scrappage scheme as the car has to be owned for 12 or 18 months by before it can qualify.

Should not stop it from selling though as there are plenty of folks out there who either don't have the money for a new car or are not willing to spend it with all the uncertainty.

Stick it up on gumtree (it's free, donedeal costs money) and it'll be gone in a day at the right price.
